Cumbernauld Colts   2  v  0  Rosyth

The Colts faced up against Rosyth from the East of Scotland League for some Friday night football in the South Region Challenge Cup. The Colts put out a young line-up for the tie, this allowed for U-19's player Conor Coyle to make his first team debut. Drew McCann was also able to get his first start for the club.

Both teams had a good start to the tie, Callum Strang pulled it just by for the visitors and Owen Andrew hit the crossbar for the Colts. A few minutes later, Andrew had another close opportunity after a ball in from full back James Grant.

It was at the half hour mark when the Colts opened the scoring through striker Sean Winter, who scored in his third consecutive game. After breaking up Rosyth possession, captain Stephen O'Neill laid off Winter to smash the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post.

HT Cumbernauld Colts 1-0 Rosyth

Colts got off to a quick start in the second half, after a couple of half-chances, Sean Brown slotted the ball past the Rosyth goalkeeper just before the 50 minute mark. This put the Colts 2-0 up and looking relatively comfortable.

At this point Rosyth tried to push to get back into the game by bringing on attacking minded players. In particular, substitute Tam Hampson caused danger to the Colts back line. With 30 minutes to go, debutant Conor Coyle forced Rosyth goalkeeper Blair Penman into a good save after a long range effort looked to be going into the top corner. O'Neill also came close with a free kick attempt and Whitmore looked to be creating everything in the middle of the park.

As the game came to a close, it became a proud night for the player pathway at the Colts as two more players came on to make their debut for the first team after coming through from the U-18's. Luke Ramsey and Marc Smith both came on with five minutes to go and both did well in the game.

FT Cumbernauld Colts 2-0 Rosyth

Colts earned their place in the next round of the South Region Challenge Cup after playing a very respectable Rosyth team. The Colts have now won three games in a row and are in good shape for back-to-back games against Celtic B.
