Whitehill Welfare   0  v  3  Cumbernauld Colts

The Colts swept aside a young Whitehill side to move 5th in the Lowland League table at a sunny but freezing cold Ferguson Park. The Colts like their hosts also fielded three U20's as they continue to be burdened by injuries. O'Neil missing from the recent cup win made the bench along with Pirrie who took a knock in the same game, he was replaced by Lachlan in the only change from last weeks starting 11.

The game was only 5 minutes old when Murray played a lovely ball wide for Lachlan on the right, his cross found the advancing Brown who's first time right footed effort found the top corner giving keeper Young no chance.

The home side were rocking and the Colts twice went close to doubling their lead. First Young was rounded only for another Brown effort to go wide of the post before Kerr Dodds cleared from his own goal line to prevent a certain goal.

With 25 minutes played the Colts were awarded a penalty when a Williams pass back to Young was short and he hauled down the alert Brown who tried to go round him in the box. After the stopper had been booked Broadfoot stepped up and shot high to the keepers left only to see his effort thunder off the post and to safety.

Whitehill steadied the ship with some better possession without causing any real concern for the Colts rearguard, however it was the Colts who extended their lead a minute before half time. A corner from the left was missed at the front post and Brown was left with a tap in for his and the Colts second of the afternoon.

Half-Time 0-2

The Colts were very much in control in the second half and should have put the game to bed long before they made it three, Whitehill never really got into the game in the second half and rarely troubled Fahey in goal. The Colts were forced to replace Marshall midway through the half when he fell awkwardly, replaced with Pirrie with Lachlan moving back into the centre half position, Managers, Orr and McKinlay will be hoping this is not serious with three defenders already out.

O'Neil replaced Broafoot, both still finding their fitness and being protected for the run-in.

On 74 minutes a flowing move down the left saw Murray slip in Black who's cross from the edge of the box found the unmarked Sheridan at the far post who guided his header away from the keeper to seal the three points 3-0.

The closest Whitehill came to pulling a goal back was through the industrious Healy up front who managed a good run into the box however his left footed shot went over.

Another good solid performance from the Colts who have found some good form in recent weeks despite the numerous injuries.

Full-Time 0-3
