Cumbernauld Colts   0  v  2  Kelty Hearts

A double from Nathan Austin gave Kelty all three points against Colts for the second time this week despite hard fought performance from the hosts at Broadwood.

The Kelty striker had two good openings early on but didn’t trouble Zander Gilchrist’s goal.

It was third time lucky though for the frontman after an excellent ball over the top from Michael Tidser put Dylan Easton in who’s low cross was turned home by Austin for the opener.

Colts allowed Kelty plenty of possession but worked hard to stay in their defensive shape limiting the visitors to long range shots.

Into the second half and Colts very nearly grabbed an equaliser.

Good play out on the right eventually saw the ball reach Lee Whitmore but the 19 year-old could only screw his shot wide.

James Orr’s men were made to pay as Kelty went almost straight up the other end to make it 2-0.

A ball in from the flank picked out Austin who peeled away at the back post to nod the ball back across goal and past sub ‘keeper Jonathan Grier and into the net.

Despite going two behind, the Cumbernauld boys didn’t let the floodgates open like in their trip to Fife on Saturday.

However, they were reduced to 10 men with around 16 minutes to play. James Grant was given his marching orders after a frustrated lunge from behind after Colts should have had a clear free-kick for a tug on Stephen O’Neill at the edge of the Kelty box..

Kelty were able to see out the win pretty comfortably but a much improved performance from the hosts against a strong outfit.

Onto to Saturday and another home game, this time Caledonian Braves the visitors.
