A disappointing afternoon at Broadwood saw two first-half strikes give Berwick Rangers a fairly comfortable three points against Colts.
The visitors started the strongest and should have netted inside the opening minutes as a ball was driven across the box with somehow nobody able to turn the ball goalwards for Berwick.
On the 10 minute mark though, they did jump into the lead. A nice ball from Jordan Sinclair split the Colts defence before Grant Nelson raced through and fired the ball through the legs of Jonathan Grier.
Colts struggled to get a foothold in this game and soon found themselves two down. Another through ball this time played in John Ward down the left flank before the full-back perfectly picked out Lewis Allan who expertly found the net with a low driven finish.
Peter Horne in the Berwick goal had little to do in the first-half as Colts had a mountain to climb going into the second period.
They did improve slightly on their earlier efforts, seeing more of the ball but struggled to create in the final third.
Fraser Team had a couple of half chances as firstly he got in behind the Berwick defence before just running out of steam with his finish and a low effort which was easily held by Horne after a cross which was just behind the striker.
Colts huffed and puffed but didn’t see many more chances thereafter with plenty of long balls easy enough for the visitors to defend.
Allan alongside Calum Smith up top were the focal point for Berwick as James Orr’s side struggled to get to grips with the hard-working front two.
The minutes ticked by as Berwick did see out their clean sheet, as for Colts, a trip to face Huntly in the Cup on Boxing Day gives them a chance to rediscover some form.
