This match was postponed due to storm damage at Broadwood Stadium.
A mid-week clash against a familiar foe this season for ‘Colts on Tuesday evening as it is our third match, second at Broadwood, with Bonnyrigg Rose, having already faced them in league and cup competitions.
Last time out
Another week away from the action for ‘Colts had come to an end, and we made the trip to Forthbank Stadium to take on University of Stirling on Saturday afternoon for Matchday 19.
University of Stirling took the kick off, getting us underway in the first half. It would be a strong start for ‘Colts, starting with a fast pace which would prove to be how the match would continue to go on.
For the majority of the opening fifteen, ‘Colts would be the dominant side, despite defending a few counterattacks. To solidify the fact, ‘Colts would go on to get a fairly early opening goal.
Josh Farquhar made a strong run with the ball down the right-hand side of Stirling’s defensive half, getting to the box and playing the cross in towards Josh Jack in the middle, who would get up to meet it with a strong header, providing ‘Colts with the advantage.
Shortly after the opener, the game would begin to become more balanced between the two sides. This would remain for the remainder of the match, with the game becoming end-to-end.
Some great defending and a few more strong chances towards the end of the first half, but ‘Colts would go into the break with the scoreline remaining 1-0.
The second half would begin similarly to the first, with ‘Colts slightly more dominant whilst defending counterattacks, although this would shortly change back to the previous frantic, end-to-end football we had seen for most of the first half.
Some of ‘Colts strongest defending of the season allowed the team to see out the narrow victory in a hard-fought, entertaining March, and we returned to Broadwood with all three points.
Previous meetings
The head-to-head between ‘Colts and Bonnyrigg has taken quite a boost in Bonnyrigg’s favour after this season’s previous clashes, currently sitting on two draws and five Bonnyrigg wins with no ‘Colts victories.
The most recent clash came in the Scottish Cup just a couple of months ago at Broadwood, as ‘Colts made their exit in the second round after a 2-0 defeat. ‘Colts were also defeated 1-0 away to Bonnyrigg in the league earlier in the season.
Opposition focus
Bonnyrigg Rose will be absolutely delighted with their season so far after a tough start, now sitting second in the league, just one point behind leaders Clydebank.
With Bonnyrigg looking to get themselves ahead of Clydebank, Tuesday evening’s game is predicted to be an incredibly tough one for ‘Colts, but we will be looking to finally add that ‘Colts win to the head-to-head record.
Squad news
There are no real updates in terms of squad news ahead of Tuesday evening’s match.
Ji Stevenson is expected to return from a spell of illness, whilst Scott Cowie may also be able to make a return from injury.
See you there!
Right then, who’s heading down to Broadwood to cheer on the team? Your voice is always so important in games like these, so we hope to see you on Tuesday evening!
