A festive fixture for ‘Colts and the last match of the calendar year as Caledonian Braves make the trip to Broadwood on Tuesday 23rd December, 7:45pm KO.
Last time out
Horrendous weather conditions were awaiting at Broadwood as ‘Colts took on Linlithgow Rose on the afternoon of Saturday 13th December in Park’s Motor Group Lowland League action.
The match got underway, and the tempo of the match was set quite quickly, with the game beginning quite fast-paced from both sides.
It would be ‘Colts to get the best of the chances in the first 15 minutes, despite the opening of the match being very end-to-end.
The visitors would find the opener shortly after, however, with Linlithgow Rose finding the back of the net in the 13th minute, putting ‘Colts now in search of the equaliser.
The high-tempo, end-to-end pattern of the match would remain for a little while longer, before ‘Colts would begin to struggle with the level of attack Linlithgow Rose were offering.
Due to this, Linlithgow Rose would double their advantage in the 35th minute, leaving ‘Colts with not long left before half-time to get back into the match, or they would face a very difficult second half.
The story of the second half would be fairly similar, with ‘Colts managing a handful of good chances throughout the 45. Josh Jack did find the back of the net, although it was flagged for offside.
This would be the only time ‘Colts would score in the second half, even though it did not stand, as Linlithgow Rose would walk away with all three points with a 2-0 victory at Broadwood.
Previous meetings
It’s a very entertaining head-to-head record between Caledonian Braves. In the eleven matches played between the two sides, Braves have seven wins whilst ‘Colts have the other four, with no draws between the sides.
‘Colts and Braves have already faced off this season, with ‘Colts making the trip back in September. A poor start to the match saw ‘Colts struggle to take anything out of the game besides an Abraham Osemeke goal in a 4-1 defeat.
Opposition focus
Caledonian Braves will be very pleased to find themselves sitting sixth in the league table as we approach the new year, ten points and one match behind league leaders Clydebank.
Caledonian Braves will be looking to push themselves further towards the top of the table, with ‘Colts aiming to do the same, sitting only two places and six points behind them, which should make for an entertaining match.
Squad news
A few minor squad updates ahead of Tuesday evening’s action.
Scott Cowie will not be available due to a personal commitment, whilst Ashton Pellow will not be available due to not being back to full fitness as of yet, despite returning to limited action with the Under 20s.
Some good news for ‘Colts, however, as although Callum Wilson and Connor Falls are not expected to be available on Tuesday evening, they should be ready for action come the new year.
See you there!
What beats a bit of festive football, eh? Get down to Broadwood and help cheer the team towards a positive end to 2025!
