Cumbernauld Colts   1  v  3  East Stirlingshire

Colts went into Saturdays game full of optimism and confidence following Wednesday nights home victory against Whitehill Welfare which maintained their unbeaten home record. From the outset the Colts imposed themselves on their visitors and were very much on the ascendancy, and it was just reward when following another flowing move loan signing Mortimer was put in on goal finished clinically past the keeper from eight yards to give the home side a deserved lead. The home side continued to apply the pressure on their visitors and another following move down the right was crossed at the bye line by Murray right to the head of Hunter on the six yard line directly in front of goal, it had goal written all over it, but unfortunately for the Colts he failed to direct his header away from the keeper who made a good stop on his line. This seemed to give the visitors confidence and heart which had been missing for most of the half. The Shire began to impose themselves and were beginning to pose a threat, Rogers went close with an effort as the half draw to a close and just when it appeared the Colts were going to see out the remaining minutes the visitors talisman struck, slack play in midfield allowed the shire to work the ball down the right which was fired in low to the front post where Rogers was at hand to squeeze the ball past Cordery. It was a real blow for the Colts who had controlled much of the half.
HT 1-1
The second half was the opposite of the first with the Shire very much on the front foot at the outset and on 47th minutes Rogers had a long range effort comfortably saved by the big keeper. Although the visitors were on top for the next 20 minutes or so they were creating little in front of goal and the Colts were by this point on a containment mission. As the game approached the remaining 10 minutes the Shire were pushing for the vital goal and on 83rd minute Rogers was again on hand in the box to score from close range, disappointing goal from the home sides perspective as the danger man was given too much space in a vital area, this took the wind out of the Colts and two minutes later the Shire put the game beyond the home side when again poor defensive play let Allison collect a ball deep in the colts box and was given time to score past Cordery who loan spell would come to an end with this only defeat. A harsh lesson for the young colts side who on their first half possession and pressure could have been well in front, instead they were made to pay by the shires experience striker who on the day was the main difference between the sides.
FT 1-3

Alex follows the Colts home and away, providing a fantastic in pictures account that captures the highs, lows and everything in between in the clubs emerging life in Scottish Senior football

Though it sometimes takes us a little longer to get them uploaded than we would like after Alex makes them available (apologies Alex!), their quality warrants a section on the homepage to publicise the life in photos of Cumbernauld Colts Lowland League side as captured by Alex.
