Match Preview: Hearts B (H)

‘Colts welcome the Wee Jambos to Broadwood on the evening of Friday, 27th February with a 7:45pm KO.

Last time out

Former Albion Rovers vice-captain Adam Fernie shines as ‘Colts cruise to victory against his old side.

It was a difficult first half for ‘Colts on Saturday afternoon as the visitors piled on the pressure from the first whistle.

The first real chance came just before the tenth minute as Harry Broun and his defence did well to clear the ball from the goal mouth, which would be one of Albion Rovers’ only clear opportunities in the match.

It would be ‘Colts that would find the opener in first half stoppage-time as Adam Fernie himself would give us the advantage shortly before the half-time whistle.

We would double our advantage shortly into the second half, and it would be the former Rovers’ man to contribute again, setting up Thomas Horn for his second ‘Colts goal.

A quick second for ‘Colts in the second half, third of the match, as Adam Fernie would get another to add salt to the wound. An incredible performance, Adam.

Our fourth and final goal of the afternoon would come slightly later in the second half via an incredible volley from Danny Hatfield.

Callum Home nearly had our fifth with a strong header against his former side towards the end of the match, following another good chance in the first half.

‘Colts would then go on to seal a comfortable victory on derby day, with no real second-half threats from Albion Rovers.

Previous meetings

‘Colts extended their advantage in the head-to-head last time out with our first win of the 2025/26 campaign, with the record now sitting at four ‘Colts wins, whilst Hearts B have two wins with one draw.

‘Colts faced Hearts B at Ainslie Park early in the season, picking up our first three points of the campaign in a 2-1 away win via first-half goals from Callum Home and Josh Jack.

Opposition focus

Hearts B will be fairly disappointed with their 2025/26 campaign so far, sitting 14th on 25 points after six wins, seven draws and fourteen losses.

The Wee Jambos will be looking to climb up the table as much as possible with not many games left to play this season, and ‘Colts will be hoping for the same as we look to cement ourselves in the top half.

Squad news

The squad news remains roughly the same as it has been within recent weeks.

Liam Allison, Scott Walker and Josh Farquhar remain out of action through injury.

Abraham Osemeke is also unavailable at the moment due to a personal commitment.

See you there!
