We’re into the Final Five as ‘Colts head to Albyn Park to face Broxburn Athletic on Saturday, 28th March with a 3pm kick-off.
Last time out
‘Colts come out on top in a convincing 5-0 win despite a difficult start to the match in the capital.
The first half would be difficult for both sides, with neither team being able to create many clear-cut chances, though ‘Colts would create a few around halfway through the first half.
However, we would manage to find the goal, which would take us into the break with the advantage.
The goal would come through Thomas Horn in the 39th minute as he would come up with a tidy finish at the near-post.
‘Colts would come out from the break looking more comfortable, and we would quickly double our advantage as Pat Moy would capitalise on the loose ball from Fernie’s attempt in the 50th minute.
It would be Ji Stevenson with his first goal of the season to make it three for ‘Colts in the 65th minute, firing it across the keeper from a Josh Farquhar cross.
Under 20s player Mark McCaffrey would grab his first senior ‘Colts goal after the ball fell to him from a poor clearance in the 82nd minute, making it 4-0.
Mark McCaffrey would quickly get his second for ‘Colts and our fifth of the evening, tapping it in on the line in the 92nd minute to seal a comfortable victory.
Despite struggling in the first half, ‘Colts fought hard to claim the three points and did so in an impressive manner.
Previous meetings
We have played Broxburn twice already this season, once at home in the league and once away in the Lowland League cup.
Both of these games resulted in 1-0 ‘Colts wins, with both goals coming through Josh Jack. Will it be the same again on Saturday?
Opposition focus
Broxburn have had a strong season, sitting just one place and four points above ‘Colts in sixth position, with fifteen wins, five draws and ten losses.
Overtaking Broxburn will be ‘Colts next objective in our mission to finish as high up the table as possible, and a win on Saturday would make that very achievable.
Squad news
No major updates in terms of squad news ahead of this Saturday’s clash.
However, there is some doubt around Callum Home’s availability after a finger injury sustained against Civil Service Strollers mid-week.
See you there!
Never been to Albyn Park? Why not check off a new ground while backing the ‘Colts? We hope to see as many of you there as possible!
