‘Colts head to Netherdale on Saturday, 14th March, ahead of a 3pm kick-off for our first of two consecutive meetings with Gala Fairydean Rovers.
Last time out
A massive 4-1 victory for ‘Colts over Linlithgow Rose on Tuesday evening sends us to the Lowland League Cup final on Sunday, March 22nd.
We got underway in the pouring rain under the Broadwood lights, and it wouldn’t be long until Thomas Horn would be fouled inside the box to win ‘Colts a penalty kick.
Josh Jack would step up to take it, as expected, and comfortably converted to the keeper’s bottom left corner to put ‘Colts in front in the 5th minute.
Shortly after, in the 11th minute, Thomas Horn would score his 4th ‘Colts goal since signing on loan in the winter to give us an early two-goal advantage.
Just as we began to feel comfortable, Linlithgow would pull one back in the 16th minute; however, this never seemed to affect ‘Colts as we continued to play our football.
‘Colts would prove to have been unaffected roughly ten minutes later in the 27th minute when Josh Farquhar would restore our two-goal lead on his return from injury.
One more for ‘Colts before half-time, obviously. In the 36th minute, Pat Moy grabs his second of the season from a corner kick after another excellent Josh Jack delivery.
‘Colts would head into a much-needed break after a thrilling five-goal first-half and return to the pitch looking to seal their place in the final.
Although the second half would see no more goals, Linlithgow Rose would see Hamilton sent off in the 76th minute after two quick-fire yellow cards.
‘Colts would win the semi-final and seal our place in the final in brilliant fashion, an evening to remember!
Previous meetings
There’s a lot of history between ‘Colts and Gala Fairydean Rovers, having played nineteen matches. Both sides have seven wins each, with five matches ending in a draw.
‘Colts seventh win came back in October when we refused a Gala Fairydean Rovers comeback to win 3-2, thanks to a double from Josh Jack, including a penalty, and a Lyons own-goal.
Opposition focus
Gala Fairydean Rovers season hasn’t been too different to ‘Colts, in terms of results. They sit twelfth in the Lowland League with ten wins, two draws and sixteen defeats, leaving them on thirty-two points.
That said, Gala Fairydean Rovers also find themselves in the Lowland League Cup final with ‘Colts, so there is no denying they are a strong side, and a tough match is expected.
Squad news
Liam Allison and Scott Walker will remain unavailable, whilst Josh Farquhar returned to action against Linlithgow Rose and is back to full availability.
Lucas McCormick will remain out of selection due to a recent hamstring issue.
Danny Hatfield is still a slight doubt, and Scott Cowie will be unavailable as he follows concussion protocols after a head-knock in Under 20s action.
See you there!
Nothing beats a nice away day. We hope to see as many of you as possible come down to Netherdale on Saturday afternoon!
