Match Preview: Tranent (H)

A third consecutive home tie awaits as ‘Colts prepare to take on Tranent at Broadwood on Saturday, 7th March with a 3pm KO.

Last time out

An incredible ‘Colts performance helped us to a 3-0 victory over the Wee Jambos at Broadwood on Friday evening.

‘Colts started the match on the front foot, playing fast, free-flowing football, knowing that if we could keep it up, it would be a good night at Broadwood.

‘Colts would receive an early award for their start to the match, as Danny Hatfield would score to put us into the lead in the 13th minute.

‘Colts would spend the remainder of the first half playing the same impressive football whilst defending some Hearts B pressure and would head into the break a goal up.

‘Colts would begin the second half in the same form, with a second goal coming just before the hour mark.

It would be Callum Home to double our advantage, striking the ball into the bottom left corner after it fell to him from a corner in the 55th minute.

Hearts B would have their spells in the match as expected; however, ‘Colts looked in control for the majority of the match.

Just as it looked like ‘Colts would see out a comfortable 2-0 victory, Thomas Horn would finish the game off.

Thomas would score in the 91st minute, scoring consecutively in all three of his ‘Colts starts so far.

The win would see us move up to 8th in the league table whilst adding three goals to our goal difference.

Previous meetings

‘Colts have struggled to take points from Tranent in recent times, with six of the last seven clashes resulting in Tranent victories, with a draw in the other game.

The sixth defeat to Tranent came earlier this season as we made the trip to Foresters Park and fell victim to a 2-0 defeat under horrible weather conditions at the tail end of a storm.

Opposition focus

Tranent should be very pleased with their league campaign so far, as they sit fourth in the table, ten points behind leaders Bonnyrigg Rose, despite having two games in hand to close the gap.

With Bonnyrigg taking on second-place Clydebank tomorrow, Tranent will be aiming to take all three points at Broadwood in the event of a slip-up at Holm Park, an idea which is our job to shut down.

Squad news

Liam Allison and Scott Walker will remain unavailable, whilst there is hope that Josh Farquhar may return early next week.

Danny Hatfield, Thomas Horn and Lyle Hunter have raised the issue of fresh injuries this week, and there will be doubts around their fitness ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

On top of this, Aiden McLaughlin has suffered from illness this week, although there is hope he may be in the squad.

See you there!

With not many home games remaining in the season, we’re hoping you’ll get down to Broadwood as much as possible as it comes to a close!
