Match Preview: Bo’ness United (A)

Our final away fixture of the 2025/26 campaign comes as we head to Newtown Park for the second time this season, following the cup final, with Bo’ness United our opponents on Saturday, 11th April, with a 3pm kick-off.

Last time out

‘Colts push up to sixth position in the Lowland League table after a 3-1 victory over Gretna at Broadwood.

Despite the cold and wet conditions, both sides provided an entertaining match from the first whistle with end-to-end, fast-paced football.

Young Mark McCaffrey would open the scoring fairly early on in the 12th minute with an excellent, curling finish from just outside of the box.

Gretna would begin to force their way into the match as time went on, and they would get their reward as Sean McKenzie would send them level from a corner in the 27th minute.

It wouldn’t be long until we would go back in front as Josh Jack would be the one to get the final touch after a scrap within the six-yard box.

We would go into the break 2-1 up and come back out looking to reinforce that advantage.

The second half would be fairly even, with ‘Colts unable to capitalise on a few very good chances to get the third goal earlier than we did.

The goal would come towards the end of the match through Josh Jack in the 84th minute after some very good team play.

Another strong three points and a position gained in our aim to finish as high in the league as possible.

Previous meetings

In recent times, ‘Colts have recorded five wins against Bo’ness, suffering a defeat once and sharing the points on one other occasion.

The most recent victory came via a 3-1 victory at Broadwood earlier this season, with ‘Colts goals coming through Josh Jack, Adam Fernie and Josh Farquhar.

Opposition focus

Bo’ness United’s season has been similar to that of ‘Colts, as they sit two positions and five points behind us in the league table, having recorded thirteen wins, six draws and thirteen losses.

Like us, Bo’ness will be looking for another big three points as they too look to finish as high up the table as possible. An entertaining tie awaits at Newtown Park.

Squad news

Scott Walker remains out of selection despite returning to some light training, whilst there is some doubt around the availability of Liam Allison, Pat Moy and Danny Hatfield.

See you there!

One last away day, why not be there? Get along to Newtown Park (again) to back the team for the penultimate time this season!
