Third time lucky for ‘Colts as we look to finally get underway in 2026 this Saturday, 17th January, when Bonnyrigg Rose make the trip to Broadwood for our third clash against the same opposition this season.
Last time out
A dramatic ending to 2025 for ‘Colts last time out as we capped off the year with a 2-2 draw with Caledonian Braves at Broadwood.
It would be Caledonian Braves to get off to the better start, taking an early lead with a goal in the third minute.
Shortly after, however, Danny Hatfield would level the match in the 20th minute. Danny would soon find the back of the net again, putting ‘Colts in front in the 30th minute with an impressive ten-minute brace.
‘Colts would go into the break ahead, but would face early panic in the second half after quickly conceding a penalty.
Thankfully, though, an in-form Harry Broun would step up for ‘Colts once again, saving the penalty and maintaining our advantage.
‘Colts would keep that advantage until the dying moments of the match, when Caledonian Braves netted a crushing last-minute equaliser, earning a share of the points.
Previous meetings
The head-to-head between ‘Colts and Bonnyrigg has taken quite a boost in Bonnyrigg’s favour after this season’s previous clashes, currently sitting on two draws and five Bonnyrigg wins with no ‘Colts victories.
The most recent clash came in the Scottish Cup just a couple of months ago at Broadwood as ‘Colts made their exit in the second round due to a 2-0 defeat. ‘Colts were also defeated 1-0 away to Bonnyrigg in the league earlier in the season.
Opposition focus
Bonnyrigg Rose will be absolutely delighted with their season so far after a tough start, now sitting second in the league, just four points behind leaders Clydebank with a game in hand.
With Bonnyrigg looking to get themselves ahead of Clydebank, Saturday afternoon’s game is predicted to be an incredibly tough one for ‘Colts, but we will be looking to finally add that ‘Colts win to the head-to-head record.
Squad news
New signing Carrick McEvoy is expected to be available and will be looking to make his second ‘Colts debut after appearing in a few games last season.
Captain Cammy Dickson will also be unavailable for a few weeks due to a personal commitment.
See you there!
Right then, who’s heading down to Broadwood to cheer on the team? Your voice is always so important in games like these, so we hope to see you on Saturday afternoon!
