Victory for Colts at home as they take on East Kilbride Thistle in the first round of the South Challenge Cup.

Colts made a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Oliver Hynd found the back of the net to take an early advantage.

Just seven minutes later, in the 22nd minute, a shot off the crossbar from Lucas McCormick almost made it two.

The half continued similarly, with Colts creating several opportunities and calling the keeper into action as the clock ticked down to end the first forty-five with a one-goal advantage.

As the second half got underway, East Kilbride Thistle thought they had found an equaliser in the 53rd minute before the flag went up. Three minutes later, Colts found themself in a similar situation as Lucas McCormick’s shot in the net was also ruled offside.

Both teams, encouraged by the disallowed attempts, continued to push, and Colts were ultimately rewarded in the 65th minute at the hands of Jude Freel to double the advantage to two.

Colts made their first round of changes in the 66th minute, which saw Jack Devlin, Harrison Howe and Jamie Semple enter the game in place of Thomas Horn, Scott Walker and Ji Stevenson.

With the game entering its final stages, Colts made a further double change in the 80th minute as Alex Mann and Abraham Osemeke replaced Oliver Hynd and Lucas McCormick.

Both teams played out the remaining minutes with little else to be achieved for either team as the full-time whistle blew to secure a 2–0 victory and progress in the South Challenge Cup for Cumbernauld Colts.

Jude Freel was named Man of the Match for his efforts throughout, including his second-half goal that helped seal the win for the team.
