Match report
A tough afternoon in Airdrie as ‘Colts slip to tenth place following a 3-1 defeat against a young Celtic side.
As soon as we got underway, it became apparent that Celtic intended to play tricky football, moving the ball around incredibly well.
This paid off for Celtic fairly early in the match, as Thomas Hatton would net the opener in the 13th minute of the game.
Celtic continued to play their football, making it difficult for ‘Colts, despite managing a few chances on the counter-attack.
The hosts’ advantage would be doubled in the 29th minute as Sean McArdle would leave ‘Colts with a fair bit of work to do to take anything from the match.
Half-time would come and go and ‘Colts would come out looking slightly improved, managing a few more chances and getting closer to Celtic’s level.
We would get back into the tie in the 55th minute as Thomas Horn would pull one back with a lovely low-driven finish across the goalkeeper, his first goal in ‘Colts colours.
Despite being back in the game and pushing for that equaliser with some good opportunities falling our way, Thomas Horn’s goal proved to be the only one we would get on Saturday.
Erskine Rennie would seal the victory for Celtic B in the 86th minute and ‘Colts head home with some lessons learned ahead of next week’s clash with Berwick Rangers.
