Match report

‘Colts progress to the second round of the Lowland League Cup with a 1-0 defeat over Albion Rovers at Broadwood.

The beginning of the match was incredibly entertaining to watch, with ‘Colts playing quick-passing, fast-moving and piling early pressure onto Albion Rovers.

The early pressure would pay off as we would win a free-kick in a good position. You know where this is going, don’t you?

7th minute, Josh Jack. Another great effort from the set-piece forces a mistake from the Albion Rovers’ keeper, and the ball finds its way into the back of the net.

This appeared to be a wake-up call for Albion Rovers as they began to find their way into the match. The game became more balanced and would continue this way for the remainder of the match.

Unfortunately, though, Scott Walker was forced to leave the pitch in the 39th minute with a sore-looking injury, replaced by Jack Devlin.

‘Colts would go into the break with their 1-0 lead and come out looking to build on it.

The second half remained fairly balanced, with neither side able to find any major chances until the latter end of the match.

We would only make one change in the second half, with Danny Hatfield replacing Thomas Horn.

Some strong defending towards the end of the match helped ‘Colts come out victorious, booking our place in the next round.
