Match report

A tough afternoon for ‘Colts on Saturday, as reflected by the scoreline, as we are beaten 2-1 by Tranent at Broadwood.

‘Colts had found themselves on the back foot before the kick-off whistle was even blown, due to a significant amount of injuries. We knew this would be a tough match.

Tranent started the match incredibly well, with Harry Broun forced into making a great save early on, shortly followed by another good Tranent effort which came firing off the crossbar.

After dealing with some early Tranent pressure, ‘Colts found themselves at the other end of a pitch as Lyle Hunter delivered an excellent cross into the centre of the box.

Lyle’s cross found Abraham Osemeke near the back-post, who would head home brilliantly to put ‘Colts into the advantage in the 16th minute.

Shortly after, ‘Colts would be forced into an early change injury would claim Lucas McCormick as its latest victim, replaced by Jack Devlin.

Although ‘Colts would be more in the game after the goal, Tranent would get back to piling on the pressure until half-time, although the first-half would end 1-0 in our favour.

Tranent would turn it around in the second half, with their first coming via Euan Bauld from a free-kick in the 54th minute.

Not too long after, in the 65th minute, another set-piece would give Tranent the advantage as Harry Girdwood would score from a corner.

The match would end 2-1 to the visitors and ‘Colts are left with lessons to be learned ahead of Lowland League Cup semi-final on Tuesday evening.
