Match report

‘Colts finally got underway in 2026 on Saturday afternoon as Bonnyrigg Rose visited Broadwood.
The tone of the match was set from the first whistle, with both teams making it clear that they intended to play fast-paced football.

It was an entertaining first half despite the lack of an opening goal, with the ball moving quickly from end to end.

Ji Stevenson’s match came to an early finish as he was forced off by injury, replaced by Lyle Hunter.

Both sides had a number of good chances in the first period, but as mentioned, neither could find the opener as we went into the break on level terms.

The second half got underway, and the tone of the match remained unchanged, with the end-to-end, fast-paced football continuing until the final whistle.

Two further changes in the second half, on separate occasions, as Thomas Horn made his debut, replacing Danny Hatfield and Carrick McEvoy later replaced Jack Devlin, making his return to Broadwood.

Unfortunately, though, Bonnyrigg Rose would take all three points after a late set-piece winner, shortly followed by some good ‘Colts chances which we just couldn’t get over the line.

A great performance from ‘Colts and an incredibly entertaining game, which came with a disappointing result.
